Epic Games has launched a month-long  Mega Sale  for its online store. You’ll be able to get some very popular games, including  Control ,  Borderlands 3 , and  Red Dead Redemption 2 , at significant discounts. Some titles, such as  Assassin’s Creed Origins  and  Far Cry 5 , are on sale for as much as 75 percent off. All Epic Games users can also claim a free $10 coupon, which you can apply to any game that’s already released on the Epic Games Store (no preorders) and priced at $14.99 or higher (after discounts are applied). For each eligible purchase you make (during the sale) you’ll earn an additional $10 coupon. The sale ends on June 11th at 11AM ET; you won’t receive new coupons beyond that point. You’ll be able to keep coupons you’ve already earned, however. Those expire on November 1st at 2:49AM ET. Finally, Epic will be giving away free games for the duration of the sale. Club Penguin Online, an unlicensed revival of the popular Disney-owned children’s social network, is one of the largest fan replicas of the game, accruing over 8 million users over the last two years.  In a now-removed blog  from this week, Club Penguin Online wrote that the game would no longer be running “after May 2020” as the result of a copyright claim. The notice, which is  available in full through the nonprofit Lumen Database , says the site “is an unauthorized version of the Club Penguin game and contains infringing copyrighted content.” Club Penguin appears to have complied with the order; as of publication, the website is no longer available. “If anyone does try to revive the game, it’ll be extremely difficult now as you’ll have to worry about Disney, and in all honestly, it isn’t worth it,” the admin wrote. Epic Games today announced the next iteration of its game engine, the Unreal Engine 5 (UE5), with a stunning demo running on the PlayStation 5. Epic says the demo shows off what next-generation game consoles will truly be capable of once developers have full access to creative tools like UE5 and the capability to squeeze the maximum out of new hardware and software baked into Sony’s PS5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X. “The graphics speak for themselves. And Epic has always pushed the bleeding edge of what’s possible,” CEO Tim Sweeney tells  The Verge . “Our goal isn’t just to bring more features to developers. The hardest problem in game development right now is building high quality games takes enormous time and cost. After a more than eight-hour outage, the Epic Games Store appears to finally be back online, meaning you should finally be able to claim Rockstar’s smash hit  Grand Theft Auto V   for free  until May 21st. The Epic Games Store had been counting down to the launch of an unnamed free title at 11AM ET today, and we learned last night that game would be  GTA V , thanks to an  early tweet posted  by Epic Games’ official Twitter account. However, when the time came for the deal for the game to go live, the Epic Games Store went down, presumably as people tried to refresh the site to claim the free title.
